Who do you mean with leader? Max is not a leader. That’s why he cannot just change things as he wants. Max has been complaining for ages about the direction of the team.

I see mostly as cause the passing away of Dietrich Mateschitz. That started the in fighting to get more influence and power instead of people working together. I’m guessing Dietrich would’ve handled the harassment case much earlier and much better. Before Newey you had a designer leave for McLaren. I’m guessing the team was toxic for longer than it was publicly noticeable.

I like drama in Formula 1, but this is unneeded drama. Similar to McLaren creating drama by giving Norris an undercut. I like drama, but it needs to be good, these things feel like a terrible tv drama show level of fake drama :-(

Max doesn’t just show up and put in a driving shift over the race weekend and then clock off on Sunday. Of course he’s leader within the team. He may not be the leader but he’s a super important part of the team. Any driver in his position would be. Same with Hamilton same with Alonso, same with Lecrec. They’re all leaders and role models in their team.

Yes I agree. Red Bull, to me, has always had that image.

Yes, he is a super important part of the team.

But if you actually listen to the way Marko, Horner or GP talk with him and about him publicly, I think it is pretty clear that they dont consider him a leader in the team in the same way someone like Ocon was at Alpine, or Leclerc is/was at Ferrari. They still treat Max like a parents treats their kid. And that dynamic isnt good.

Of course he’s leader within the team.

You haven’t explained why you say he is the leader. He advocated for changes for ages. He has influence, that’s not the same as being a leader.

In commentary they often say that the driver is leading the team. But that doesn’t mean that drivers are leaders, nor that a commentary reflects what role and abilities a driver has within a team.

You haven’t explained why you say he is the leader.

Buddy, stop. I’m not here to get into a semantic argument with you. Chill out. This is part of my reply.

If you don’t want replies, why reply yourself?

And I responded to that part. You say that he’s a leader. Without saying why.

You haven’t explained yourself, then you continue to not explain yourself. You mention you don’t want to get into semantics, then quote something you said before. Meaning, you don’t want a discussion, and then by qouting it’s you who continues discussing.

Up to now I’ve explained why a driver isn’t automatically a leader. But I haven’t seen any explanation of your reasoning. It comes over as assertions.

Anyway, take Lewis. He used to lead the team. That doesn’t mean that any driver is a leader. Nor that Lewis always leads or is always a leader. Mercedes completely ignored his input about the drivability of the car for multiple years. In a recent podcast Mercedes mentioned that overlooked something about their car for multiple years. In all of those years they’ve been ignoring Lewis.

Max isn’t automatically a leader, same for Lewis.

Or in another way, that an apple is a fruit doesn’t imply that all fruits are apples.
