My last EA game was Battlefield 3 and I have never purchased an EA game since. Has that stopped EA? No. Why? People will buy it anyway because once their friends buy it, they have to buy it too. Companies all know gamer heard mentality. Your best bet is to slap that digital copy out of your friends’ hands right onto the floor. I don’t know how you do that, but that would be a nice thing to have.

If you have a local radio-shack-like mom and pop shop, those are treasure hunts and you’re guaranteed to find gold. Encourage folks to go local.

nthavoc@lemmy.todayto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How many of you use Lemmy and ONLY use Lemmy vs Reddit?English1·21 days agoI only use Lemmy and deleted my reddit account. I didn’t bother with Mastadon or BlueSky. Then again I didn’t bother with Facebook or Twatter either. If it’s important it does bubble up to Lemmy with less bots and brigading going on so that’s a plus. I do have a few YouTube channels I watch that are either about fixing stuff or oddball humor. From my own personal observation, there is a noticable difference between social media addict behavior and people who don’t make it their entire existence.
You were probably talking to mostly trolls, bots, and “hive minded” people. Avoid that daily dose of cortisol from just being pissed off talking to stupid people in general. Here’s a thing you can try: write all the mean things you want to say, but don’t post it. Instead, cancel your post, downvote, and move on. It’s kind of therapeutic, almost like writing a mean letter you’re not going to deliver and destroy. It may not work for you, but being angry talking to stupid people all the time is very draining. Another saying, “You can’t win an argument against stupid people. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

This is why companies keep putting out crap.

Is this ER worthy?English11·1 month ago**tl;dr ** Probably severe acid reflux but hard to say, use your insurance to get checked out, cops are a non-issue for this kind of call. To the Europeans, yes we know our health system sucks.
First off, I am not a health professional. However, based on somewhat common knowledge, If you’re barfing blood or pooping what looks like coffee grinds, immediate 911 call you’ve got less than 24 hours left. If your chest pain continues, that’s highly likely a trip to at least urgent care, don’t ignore chest pains. If you woke up choking on your barf, but it settled down and able to catch your breath, and your chest pain is going away it’s highly likely acid reflux which can be caused by a lot of different things. Either way you need to get looked at by a doctor soon and not consult the Internet. Your copay is shown on your insurance card for a dr’s visit so you can do your financial calculations. 50 to 100 bucks now is better than 500 to 10,000 bucks later.
Don’t wait either since you have insurance. Urgent care’s usually covered at a more affordable rate. If you get admitted to an ER from the urgent care, MOST halfway decent insurances will cover you so you’re not out hundred’s of thousands of dollars for a Tylonal. Before the Europeans chime in, yes, health insurance in the US sucks. It’s not free. You can talk the hospital down on your bill and you can absolutely renegotiate your minimum payment. Sometimes, if you’re nice in talking to both the insurance and the hospital, a grant can be found and you owe nothing. It’s a lot of work and time so don’t panic when you see the first bill.
So everyone in the US knows, cops are never involved in a 911 call unless there’s a crime in progress or there is an immediate threat to the responding EMS team. Don’t call 911 with some kind of threat. Obviously you’ll be in a panic and the 911 operator will only send what is needed.
you mean that password function actually had a use this whole time?!?

Randy Pitchford says, "If you're a real fan, you'll find a way to make it happen"English9·2 months agoI can make it happen during a Steam summer sale 4 years later. Borderlands 3 wasn’t that great when you compare it to 1 and 2. I can wait.

The original Nintendo games cost just about 70 to 80 adjusted to today’s inflation. But at least you got a cool instruction booklet you could read on the car ride home, the full bug-free game (most bugs were fun if you found some anyway), and you actually owned the game with no strings attached. You could actually trade the games with your friends. If they started packing goodies with the games like that again on top of owning the game outright without some kind of shady DRM or license agreement, then yes, 80 dollars could probably be justified. That’s where I was going with physical copies.
nthavoc@lemmy.todayto Gaming@beehaw.org•Former PlayStation exec says "$70 or $80" games are a "steal": "As long as people choose carefully how they spend their money, I don't think they should be complaining"English11·2 months agoThis is like when the music industry said CD’s should cost 40 to 50 dollars instead of 12 dollars. There was only one good song on most CD’s. Look where CD’s are now. I don’t see how they can justify 80 dollars a game when they don’t even make a physical copy anymore. It’s now just an SD card with a key on it. They’re still downloading the game itself from the internet.
Forgot a requirement: must be willing to RTFM. Other than that, it’s still way less requirements.
