When you can get convicted of scores of felonies and still receive no punishment I don’t think you’d care about any laws. All levels of the system have proven themselves unwilling to impose any kind of consequences to him, hes in effect a monarch.

FT8 for pretty maps and SSTV to xmit memes sounds pretty good. Winlink if I’m feeling adventurous.
.world considers .ml tankie and .world is not a neutral instance unless you never mention palestine. So it’s a lot like reddit.
Yes. They literally make memes about instances they despise and how they won’t take anyone from those instances seriously.
People have a right to exist, and if they have no other options but to enforce that right violently, they will do so and let that be called justice.
Fifth column resistance, Sabatoge, and things you cant say on the intetnet.
I can be very critical of the fediverse, especially where I want it to do better, but I think stagnation isn’t the right word I think ‘maintaining’ fits more. The fediverse isn’t beholden to the grow or die model capitalist projects need and it remains a space that is unique enough to warrant people coming back here, or coming here for certain reasons or content or whatever. I think the model to hope for would be continue maintaining and being ready for when the next group of people get fed up enough to follow through and come here (fediverse in general)
A similar phenom happened with TV, once there were hundreds of channels people started leaning heavily on nostalgia. I think it just that an overwhelming amount of options makes the whole experience more taxing on executive function and you can’t help but notice the garbage you filter thought because you just have to filter through so much more of it. I guess advertising plays a hand in the levels of exposure too. It’s why it felt like when you were a kid a good game just fell on your lap and now gaming being more visible than ever you still feel like when you find one it’s a hidden gem among coal.
I think if you looked more or in different places you’d find more you like.
No but its only gonna get more expensive so do it if you can swing it.
Im always stuck on the point that we never consented to existance, can I simply decline to be born in this hypothetical because I think thats my pick.
Not always. The US bombed striking workers on Blair mountain, and bombed a Philly neighborhood in the 80s to target activists. A portland protestor who shot a fascist demonstrator in self defence was summarily murdered by the cops days later before they even announced their presence. An unarmed cop city protestor was shot dead after one cop pretended a gunshot behind him was from the protestors. And god help you if youre a Boeing whistleblower or sex trafficker to the politicians. Even if China does this more often its hard to ascribe that to communism if the most anti communist nation in history does the same thing but just less often. These targeted things hide in the statistics for killings by cops because cops in the US kill more people annualy than mass shooters do.
Chile was a communist country and didnt become autocratic because of it, the US murdered their democratically elected president then planted a dictator in his place. So my guess is it doesn’t always end that way on it’s own. Russia speedran the capitalism to fascim transition to, it’s been capitalist since 1991, sham elections since 2005, so they’re not a good example of any kind of economic or government system. China has a tight grip on their population but don’t let the propaganda distract you from the fact that the US is just as much a surveillance state as China with the one exception being how much China micromanages it’s people when they leave the country, but I wouldn’t bet against America keeping tabs on expats the same way it was found out that America was spying on its allies in the EU.
I think this question ignores mountains of contexts in an attemtp at reducing a problem into one facet.
Because it’s for busy people on their way to their murder plans I suppose
Ive been unable to get anyone I know into any part of the fediverse. Nobody wants to deal with federation the way it is now.
Two of my friends who hate elmo and his version of twitter didnt stick with mastodon and they’re a senior developer and a sys admin, but now they’re both on bluesky. I no longer think the fediverse is too hard for people, I think people don’t want to deal with the way it works. The user expirence and onboarding in the fediverse is simply outclassed by, well everything more popular than it.
I sure could use a vacation
This is why im in the field im in. My labor goes directly to people who need it. Its still a scam and im still taken advantage of monetarialy but I come into work and do things directly for people who need them.
I still use my phone for an alarm but it’s always far away from my bed because if I can reach my alarm without having to stand up im liable to keep sleeping.
As long as we keep not listening to the scientists, no I think there is no getting betrer. A world like ours is not going to get better as the climate deteriorates, and we cannot reign in the rich from continuing to kill the envrioment for profit. So long as carbon credits exist large polluters will continue to pollute and simply buy their way back into compliance. Based on the lack of progress on this exesistential issue for the survival of the whole species, at the very least its going to get a lot worse before it ever gets better, if theres still an environment that can support life left.
Nahhh I’m not messing up my opportunity. Im going back in time and giving John Brown kamakazi drones just before he gets to Harpers Ferry.
