I would say NixOS might be even more cultish. I am a part of that cult.
Is it even possible to not care at this age though? At this point school and interacting with your peers is a vast majority of your life. I don’t think I have ever seen a kid being bullied every day at school and not caring. How can you not care if you’re scared?
I guess it is possible as you get older, more mature and closer to adulthood. But for a kid in a primary or middle school? Kinda hard to imagine for me.
If I’m actually reading with the goal of thorough understanding then it will take as long as reading it aloud or longer. I can still skim through the text faster, but I will understand less of it.
The Wikipedia article on subvocalization has a section on speed reading. It seems that subvocalizing can in fact limit the reading speed.
This is not a good explanation because as someone already pointed out a lot of (most?) people do “read the words aloud in their head”. For me, I often even make tiny moves of my tongue and larynx - see subvocalization.
Literally the point of money is to exchange it for something.
Yes! I actually couldn’t resist reading it again when posting it.
This is what always comes to my mind when someone mentions Enlightenment: https://web.archive.org/web/20230424121033/https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/15001/enlightened. Might provide some answers too.
Well, I didn’t even get to this part. But… it doesn’t have scrollback? Really? That’s crazy!
Since the review doesn’t mention any downsides I’m gonna go ahead and share one. This might seem like a tiny thing but relatively slow startup turned out to be a total deal breaker for me. In my workflow, I open and close a lot of terminal windows. Sometimes I spawn terminals just for a few seconds to run a single command and then close them. Kitty and Alacritty launch instantaneously whereas Ghostty has a noticeable lag which was just infuriating to me. Also, it doesn’t have any useful (for me) features not present in Kitty so yeah, I guess it’s not for me.
It’s like a week since you went no contact if I gather correctly. That’s still very early. In my case, for instance, I barely left my bed for the first 2 weeks. All the other stuff came a bit later. I don’t really remember how much exactly. So yeah, unfortunately the answer is still just time.
I might have another suggestion as well. For me journaling was kinda helpful. My head was full of alternative scenarios, questions to ask and things to say to my ex. Since I couldn’t do that, writing it down cleared my head a little bit. I guess don’t do that if it will make you dwell on the breakup even more. But if that’s all you think about anyway, then there’s probably nothing to lose here.
Sending virtual hugs your way. Be strong!
I’m afraid you can’t really just stop it immediately. It will get better with time though. In the meantime healthy distractions are probably your best shot. When I was in similar situation to yours I started spending pretty much any free time I had on two things: running and learning guitar. Half of the time I was doing it with tears in my eyes but it was still better than just getting lost in depressing thoughts. It took me like 3 months until the breakup wasn’t dominating my thoughts everyday. It was hard AF but in this time I actually learned something, improved and rediscovered myself. Sport and music have become major parts of my life. Now, years later, I’m actually thankful for this breakup. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it didn’t happen and I definitely prefer current myself to the past myself.
You just need to plow through the hard times. It WILL get better! I wish you all the best.
Haha, of course not to you but I’m sure it does to some.
BTW, what do you consider good shoes? Any recommendations? I really struggle with this. For the colder and wetter part of the year I usually wear Salomon trail runners and I love their all-terrain, all-weather properties. They have one weak spot though - the heel counters wear out well before anything else in the shoe which overall seems rather indestructible. How did they fuck this up?!
But for the summer… I literally haven’t found a shoe which would be suitable for very long walks in various terrains and weather conditions and would be also breathable and light.
