Just like Reddit, you need to curate your feed. Don’t browser all/local, browse your subscriptions. Here’s a list of subs that aren’t political https://lemmy.world/post/16327122 - subscribe to ones that interest you.

Also feel free to liberally block communities. It’s trivial to do.

It’s also worth ensuring you have at least both “Undetermined” and “English” selected as your languages in your settings.

I find Lemmy isn’t super at pushing newer content at the top, and you have to just mix between the different sorts. The content is definitely there. The alternative way to mitigate this is as follows:

• In my settings I have “show read posts” unticked. This ensues posts I interact with (e.g click on, vote on) with disappear from my feed afterwards (upon refresh/reload, of course). I don’t think it clears posts that have appeared in your feed but you haven’t interacted with. This is extremely effective in keeping your feed fresh.
• When browsing on my phone (Boost For Lemmy), I make frequent use of its “hide all read” button to quickly gut anything on my feed that I’ve seen before (no interaction needed).
• You can, of course, just manually hide posts as you go but uh, the above methods are better at automating that process for you.

I used to get really annoyed with stale feeds but upon doing the above it’s pretty much always fresh content.

That said, it won’t hurt to subscribe to more communities!

In the UK we had to be told explicitly not to move before or after the bell rang, until the teacher said we were allowed to (which usually wasn’t long after to be fair). Wed all been conditioned by American movies were they just get up immediately to leave, lol

The rest of the game was top notch though

I’m cautious about this game. It’s been redeveloped like 3 times into completely different genres, pretty much nothing has been shown about it, and Bioware is nothing like it was years back.

I don’t know, I think the Tories veering further and further right is partially what led them to the mess they’re in now. I’m hoping that 5 years in opposition, we’ll see more moderate Tories come back to the forefront, or, even better, Lib Dems take the mantle as the main opposition party.

But who knows, you may be right. I dread to think we’re about to jump off the deep end and end up like US politics.

Baldur’s Gate story is great, yes.

Dragon Age (fantasy magick adventure) and Mass Effect (space opera) are also great.

After the City Fibre rollout, Virgin just doesn’t make sense anymore.

Change sorting to “Top 6hr”. I browse by Hot sometimes but that’s my primary sort atm
