Charlxmagne@lemmy.worldBanned from communityto Linux@lemmy.ml•In regard to Hyprland and Fascism167·3 months agoThis is akin to MAGA calling the pope marxist cuz he disagrees with them, some people are so one-dimensional its comical, you cant fight stupidity with stupidity, this is how actual fascists justify all of their extremist views, extremism just encourages extremism on the other side and gives those who are indoctrinated a bigger reason to support their indoctrinators. Tunnel vision is one crazy phenomenon 🤡
Regardless of his views I’ll continue using it and supporting it. People will find anything good and look for a reason to ruin it grow tf up.

Year of the Linux desktop!3·3 months agoFr he made a sincere apology, no bs and moved on, KSI said the P word and made the most scripted insincere apology and didn’t get half the bs he did. The sad reality is success brings people who want you to fail and drop to their level of pathetic joblessness to make them feel better about themselves no matter what you do.
Yeh I was gonna say, has to be a gnome foot, thats some bookie shaped foot if it’s human.
Aint good at graphic design but Krita’s better anyways, we used it in school, along with PS, didn’t really see a difference in either program, tho I was equally shit at using both.

Charlxmagne@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Just installed mint yesterday, I get it now3·3 months agoRealistically the simplest way to think about it is a text based file manager that can run programs, you could literally ignore it and use it to just install and update, if GUI’s your thing.
Charlxmagne@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Phones are handheld computers now. Why aren't laptops phones? I know you can use VoIP or tether to a phone, but why don't laptops have LTE or 5G modules and SIM card slots as a standard?3·3 months agoPretty sure Linux supports eSims and some older laptops support Sim cards, you can add one to your PC as well. Personally I just use secure ways of communicating but it would def be useful when your traveling.
Frameworks are the only good worthy successor imo.

Charlxmagne@lemmy.worldBanned from communityto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.3·3 months agoIt’s literally be just as simple as choosing a distro, preferably a just works one or something thats piss easy to install like Linux Mint, Fedora or OpenSuse.
Then you choose your Desktop Environment, from which you can choose either KDE Plasma, XFCE, GNOME or the new COSMIC desktop environment (still currently in beta so not recommended js yet) which you can choose when installing your distro or while choosing your distro. You can always change it once you’ve chosen.
KDE Plasma’s infinitely customisable, yet also really user friendly, with a lot of incredible software included by default, including phone compatibility software similar to what you’ll find in apple’s ecosystem. XFCE’s really lightweight and power efficient. GNOME’s very macOS like by default, being a lot less customisable than KDE but really user friendly. They each have their own versions of software.
You should know what your distro’s package manager is and how to use it, which is basically what you use to install updates and install and uninstall software. That’s literally the only thing you’ll need to use your terminal for, it’s basically just a text based file manager which can run programs/software. That’s basically it, just make sure to frequently update your system, they are voluntary unlike Windows updates and don’t require reboots or crash your system, and you should be good.
Charlxmagne@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Obama wasn't a hero; he just wasn't terrible3·4 months agoDis ain’t even a shower thought bro, icl I’d rather leave politics out of some communities, but 100% I agree. So many people looked past his politics and js looked at his skin colour instead. America’s a 2-party illegitimate oligarchical corrupt shithole anyways, a fake democracy ruled by 2 parties with largely the same interests at heart. A land in which both communists and fascists manage to coexist, 2 of the most cancerous groups of people to ever exist.
He committed and covered up hundreds of war crimes in the Middle East and other countries, declared Linux users terrorists, Snowden, Assange etc. like with Trump the list is too long.

Frameworks are the best modern laptop by far imo.
Been seeing this on people’s invidious instances
