What have you all been playing?

I finished the “Roottrees are dead” second scenario and had a blast. Continuing my Isaac dead god journey. Want to start some new games soon but not sure what at this point

Motortown: Behind the Wheel. The driving feels fantastic, it has just the right amount of RP-ability to be present, but not forced, and it can be high speed or high chill, your choice. I seriously recommend it.

Hell yeah. 90% of my game time has been Isaac. Finally motivated to go for dead god with the new update. I got all marks for the non tainted characters last week :)

Your playing at a higher level than me, I need to lookup guides at some point lol or at least the wikki. I just vibe my way through the game.

Nearing the end of the non-DLC portion of Pokemon Scarlet. I’m trying to finish my Pokedex before I jump to the DLC here and just have a little bit more focused breeding/leveling up the babies before I’m all set. I forgot how much fun a mainline Pokemon game is as it’s taken up a lot of free time as I get towards the end. I do think this has been one of the better entries and the technical issues, while present, are nowhere near game breaking from what I’ve experienced.

The open world was a little daunting at first. They give you three “quest lines” you can follow right out of the gate and I was initially stuck trying to figure out where to go and what to do, especially since two of the quest lines are literally in two different directions. The region is basically a big circle/clock face. You start at 6:00 and the first things you can do when the game opens up are at 4:00 and 8:00. Once I got the hang of the travel down it was a lot easier to do, but they throw a lot at you to start.

My friends are now into running archipelago randomizer worlds so I’ve been playing Pokemon Emerald and Fire Red together with my friends who are playing Tunic and Satisfactory.

Super pleased with how smoothly archipelago works and how much effort modders have put in to keep it that way.

I am considering buying factorio to play as well. It’s so much fun to add a multiplayer aspect to single player games while also essentially adding infinite replayability because every game is different.

Started Metal Gear Solid V yesterday. Spent about 2.5 hrs on it but think I’ve only actually played 45mins of actual game play. Fuck me there’s a lot of cut scenes.

It’s been a while but if I remember right, MGSV has a lot up front but then dramatically drops off and is more gameplay vs. movies. There will still be SOME cutscenes but it’s nothing like the beginning of the game (which is more like the other MGS games that are cutscene heavy)

I played a bit of FFVII rebirth at the start of the week, but then had to pause I don’t have my main pc with me and I doubt it plays well on deck. I’m not sure if I wanna continue it tho, as my overall experience with the game up to now (middle of Costa del Sol) has been pretty bad.

I started Granblue Fantasy Relink, I think I’m near the end of the story mode. It’s pretty fun, although I wish the story too was coop.

I’m also playing Fire Emblem Engage (chapter 14), and it’s much better than Awakening: the maps are more interesting and the break system encourages you to be aggressive and makes using weaker units easier. The engage rings are pretty interesting; they feel a bit overpowered, but at the same time I feel like I’m not using them optimally.

I’m also playing the game, it’s kinda disappointing, since I loved Remake, but I like the characters enough to continue.

Remake is great, I replayed it recently too in anticipation for Rebirth.

I too like the characters, which is why I’ll try to continue, but I’m probably gonna play the original game instead. I’ve already played around 20 hours of it, up to just after the

spoiler for a dungeon I'm guessing is near the end of Rebirth

        temple of the ancients

, and while the fast pacing is a bit jarring when compared to Remake, I enjoyed it much more than the parts of Rebirth I played.

I’m definitely not as down on Rebirth as you, but I liked Remake more. The combat is still fun enough, even if some fights/enemies are terrible.

I’ve also been thinking of re-playing the original, when I’m done, just as I’ve done after Remake. Like you said, I remember the pace throwing me for a loop.

I just started a new run in CDDA. https://cataclysmdda.org/

I saw a new major version was released and made the switch.

So far it’s feeling good. I’m currently dying slowly to the harsh winter but otherwise ok!

About to finish Alan Wake 2 and its DLCs. It’s a great game but for me it’s bit too artsy fartsy. The flow breaks each time you switch the character, which in turn affects the pacing. Having said that the concept is cool, the fmvs integrated into the game are really high quality, they act as emmisive light sources, causing surroundings to reflect it. Pretty cool.

Mostly Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Feels like this game took half a step forward and two steps back, compared to the first part. It tries to do a lot of things and doesn’t do many well. There’s minigames-ish for so many things. The open-world stuff kinda tries to be Assassin’s Creed lite, but all zones are huge, but pretty empty, with the same two types of “events” in them (go somewhere or fight). Of course, the game has a shitty crafting system, so you can pick up material in the empty zones. Combat is a bit better than before, but then the devs managed to craft the perfect enemies to make some fights feel like hell, even worse than the worst fights in Remake, and I’m not even done with the game yet. I’ve played the game for 40 hours, but the story has barely moved. I think there’s supposed to be an alternate timeline, but I think I’ve seen like five minutes of it. It’s been pretty disappointing so far, but I still like the characters, so I’ll continue playing.

Then a bit Baldur’s Gate 3. Started another Honor Mode run, going with pretty much the same party build as my first run, where I almost made it. The full fighter playthrough has to wait for the next Patch.

Still going as of last night, but I’m waiting until after the current season ends in four days to see where things are.

I wouldn’t mind spending a little to support a game I like, especially since the rework seems like a pretty good direction to go, but not if the company that bought them is just gonna shut everything down and possibly pocket any recent sales.

Just finished Echoes of the Eye (Outer Wilds DLC) last week, now trying Hollow Knight again. I’ve tried before, I love the game, I just don’t play many side-scrolling metroidvanias and even with the map and the pins I get lost and overwhelmed.

This time I’m trying to just go with the flow a bit more, not get too hung up on mentally mapping out every twist and turn, and so far I’m making much better progress (I think). Gonna stick with it.
