Arrest you for protesting a genocide or trying to get an abortion? No, sorry, that’s something people in the US have to worry about when their government has their data, not China.

Considering our data is being bought and sold by US companies to whoever I don’t think this is going to help with that. Tbh, I’m more scared of the US having our data than China. The US can use it to find people seeking abortions, or to track protestors trying to get human rights, or things like that. Not China. I’d rather they make a general law to preserve privacy, but this half-assed measure to preserve US monopolies.
The revealed their code to a US company already: Oracle.
They just don’t like that the youth use it to see what’s happening in other parts of the world, like Palestine. They want to be able to keep the US populace within their propaganda bubble, in the state we were in when we didn’t know about things like the Irgun or The Great March of Return.
Same. I forgot to mention that I like to buy cheaper games through second hand rather than paying full price on electronic stores. Often even their big sales aren’t as cheap as secondhand.
I still buy physical whenever I can. I’d hate to have my entire collection beholden to one account, although I know people do that with the PS Store, or Game Pass, or Steam. I don’t trust corporations, I guess. I really hope they don’t make disc-less consoles the standard.
You have to imagine other people have no idea about Marxism but what they’ve heard from US propaganda. When they hear you support China, Cuba, and Vietnam, they just hear you supporting dictator for life Xi Jinping and one party state Cuba and Vietnam. You guys need better answers than this.
The other person’s answer was pretty good, though.
Makes sense. I was considering getting a Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch for kinda that same reason.
Been playing PC or PS5 games instead? Or just haven’t been gaming much?
Ah. Well that sucks =(
I thought the EU has been pretty good on privacy so far. Of course the US is trying to duck it up.
I wonder why water indicates nerves and coffee indicates confidence. It totally makes sense to me but I have no idea why.
There’s apparently a answer to this I’ve been told by physicists, but I’ve never quite understood it lol.
I wish I could do that. It sounds so risky, though lol. But all the power to you. That’s amazing.
I remember watching Her right after going through a big break up. That one really hit hard. Great movie, though.
It’s a lot of work to admin an instance, though. I can understand if random people don’t want to do it. I hope one day someone does, because a California or Socal instance was the first one I looked for, too.
Lots of good cocktails in here. Going to plug !cocktails@lemmy.world for everyone to check out and contribute these cocktails, too.
It was. But there were interesting effects from Reddit getting huge, like more niche subreddits and random encounters, like someone posting a proposal pictures and the targets of it being able to find it online. That probably wouldn’t happen on Lemmy.
Probably a worthy trade for better discussion and less bots, though.
Only for Lemmy. I think Kbin accounts access magazines a different way, but not sure. Sometimes I hear an @ sign works, sometimes I hear it doesn’t, so I’ll throw it in anyway:
@13thfloor@kbin.social (for people on Kbin)
Beautiful
This is amazing. I’d love to see this. Probably wouldn’t pay, but I’d clap vigorously afterwards.
