Supreme Commander has been a very fun RTS - that barely worked on Windows.

FAF, or Forged Alliance Forever brought it back to life with my friends, where it rebuilt lobbies, shored up a lot of the patchy netcode, and made it fun - but as we know modding and linux gaming can be tedious.

Until I found this repo, where FAF now fully “supports” Linux! It was such a breeze, it found my Steam install, my copy of Forged Alliance, and it set everything else up. Huge kudos to the maintainer!

These scripts made it super easy! I had a couple issues, but the troubleshooting at the bottom already had both of them covered and I was up and playing in minutes!

Played this game since I got the beta in 2007. Had it installed on Kubuntu 22.04 but I’m having problems in 24.04. I think I’ll work on it this weekend.

That aside, I hope Shattered Sun is linux compatible.

You know I really want to use PopOS because I support what they do. I just really like KDE. I’ll keep an eye on their Cosmic desktop though.
